Another Bird Walk

Hi All,

We had a season record 27 people on our bird walk this morning. The four volunteers spread ourselves throughout the crowd so at least one of us would be accessible to answer questions ("what kind of bird is that?" ;-)

Carl noticed a woman with a Denver Broncos hat looking through our spotting scope. He told  her he would make a special exception even though we were Patriot fans. Everyone laughed and another visitor said we won the World Series and should not be greedy.

We saw 46 different species in less than three hours including two elegant trogons like this guy.

Miniature Museum

Hi All,

We returned to the Time Machine Miniature Museum today since we enjoyed it so much last year.

Most miniatures are 1/12th scale where one inch equals one foot. This "room box" is only a foot across with extraordinary detail.

Here is a pottery workshop

This amazing drafting set is less than one inch across.

This model is a German Apothecary Desk.

How about building a display into a walnut shell.
Great fun the second time around.

View from Above

Hi

Ken Wiseman sent us some photos taken from his remote helicopter. Here we all are looking up at the copter looking down at us. Just a tad weird.

Here's a nice view of the park marina.
This device is pretty smart. If the control signal is lost, the copter climbs to 75 feet, flies back to the GPS coordinates where it took off and lands itself. For $1,200 you too can have this much fun!

Good Times in Patagonia

Hi All,

We are still enjoying our time here

Here's the marina with the high arched bridge (so sailboats can use the launch ramp).

The sub-adult elegant trogon put in an appearance this week.

and the sunset glow on the hills is beautiful.

On Sunday, Ken & Martha Wiseman came for a visit and a boat ride. They produce an interesting monthly "RV Navigator" podcast. Check out the license plate on the car they tow behind their motorhome.

Ken brought his new remote control helicopter.

It's a remarkable device that includes WiFi downlink from the 14 megapixel onboard camera.

Back to Patagonia State Park

Hi All,

We moved the coach from Tumacacori to Patagonia on New Years Day. We did the bird walk for the next three days and the Elegant Trogon came out to say welcome.

Here's the male.

This is an immature female.
Happy New Year.
