Grand Teton Flashback

Hi All,

We recently got this photo from Ranger Laura who lived next to us at Gros Ventre Campground.

Very early in the morning of the day we left, Laura took this photo of a bison standing right behind our coach.

We were sound asleep at the time.

Valley of Fire State Park

Hi All,

One of the few benefits of the government shutdown is that thousands of people are exploring state park since National Parks are closed.

That included us. Today we drove 50 miles north of Vegas to Valley of Fire State Park. This gem, Nevada's first state park, includes miles of eroded, red rock. We'll let the pictures tell the story.

Sin City

Hi All,

Friday and Saturday we spent time in Sin City, touring the casinos and shops and gambling a little.

Here is St Marks Square in the Venetian.

Toto: We are not in Wyoming Anymore

Hi All,

Two easy days drive brought us to Las Vegas. The RV Park we are staying in is tired and worn with many cluttered permanent trailers. The good news is that is half the price of the fancy parks near the Strip. Sandy thought some trailers looked like "Red Foxx" lived there ;-).

In the afternoon we walked along the Strip including New York-New York Casino shown here.

Certainly not the Tetons!

Moving On

Hi All,

We planned to leave today which sadly turned out to be a good idea since all National Parks closed today.

Two young moose came to say good-bye.

Carl was anxious about all the things that might go wrong after sitting in one spot for over four months but we had no problems. We drove to central Utah on the way to Vegas. On the way we stopped in Brigham City for more of the great shrimp steaks at Maddox restaurant.

A Sad Last Day

Hi All,

We returned our uniforms, building keys, radios and bear spray this morning. We then drove one last lap on Moose-Wilson Rd. No bears came out to say goodbye.

Low overcast hid the high peaks but the golden cottonwoods lit up the Snake River Valley

Tomorrow we start our two day drive to Las Vegas. We are sad to leave Grand Teton but eager to visit family and friends back east.

Same Spot-Different Day

Hi All,

Today we were in Jackson for the Wildlife Film Festival. It was a full day of films from 12-10 PM. We saw fabulous films about chimpanzees, kangaroos and a 3D film about King Penguins on South Georgia Island.

Tonight the keynote will be Derek and Beverly Joubert. We would love to have seen these extraordinary film makers who specialize in African big cats but tonight is the farewell party for the Wildlife Brigade.

On the way home from town, we saw more snow covered peaks and more blue sky so we stopped again in pretty much the same spot for a picture. Actually, Carl took ten; this is the best
