Subject: Off to Red Lodge

Hi All,

Thursday we drove through Yellowstone to the Beartooth Highway. This stunning road climbs out of the NE corner of YNP to over 11,000 feet. At 9,190 feet there is a rest area .

Beyond that the road drops almost 3,000 feet into Red Lodge.

Sandy found a delightful little log cabin.

This cabin and those nearby, were built in the 1930's to house workers when the Beartooth highway was being built .

Friday we found a nearby trail along a roaring creek.

It was beautiful and very photogenic.

After the hike we visited the Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary, home to animals that cannot be released into the wild. The lynx sat near the fence

and the red fox sat on her platform.
We concluded the day with some retail therapy.  Tomorrow we drive back to the Tetons.

Love,

Sandy & Carl
