Kodachrome Basin State Park

Hi All,

Today we ventured about 15 miles SE of Bryce to Kodachrome Basin. More Entrada sandstone rich in iron. This looks a bit like a fantasy castle.

The rock texture looks like modeling clay.

Some spires were quite impressive. How did this spike survive when everything around it eroded away? Must be tougher stuff.

This one reminded us of a lizard perched high on the spire.

The dead juniper trees gives the place an Alice in Wonderland feel.

In silhouette this formation looks like a Cambodian Temple we visited last year.
The park has three small campgrounds with many big sites. Next time we are in the area we will plan to spend more time here.

Love,
