On to Inverness

Hi All,

Today we drove from Edinburgh to Inverness with several stops planned along the way.

First stop was Stirling Castle dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.

This recreated mural adorns the Queens Inner Chamber in the palace.

Next stop was Dunfermline Abbey and Palace. The abbey is intact, dating to the 12th century. Look closely at the tower and see "King Robert". The other two sides say "The Bruce". The king is buried under the altar except for his heart, which he ordered be taken on the Crusade.

This is the tomb of King Robert

The palace ruins are interesting

and include a "Guest House" for high ranking visitors.

The window detail was fascinating.

Last stop was the Queen's View overlooking Loch Tummel, so named because Queen Victoria stopped here.
Our next accommodation is in Rosemarkie near Inverness. Elliot really outdid himself picking this time. The house is right on the water overlooking Moray Firth.

Tomorrow we go looking for Nessie.

Love,
