Trogon Intereuptus

Hi All,

This morning we set out to walk the birding trail all the way to the park fence. We never made it because Sandy spotted an Elegant Trogon along the way. This beautiful bird is usually seen only in Mexico and Central America. This park is one of the few places on the US where birders can see one.

This was more than a fleeting glimpse.
First he perched above us.

Then he flew down, caught an insect and landed on a nearby rock to eat it.

Then he circled around in front of us to make sure we got a good look.
We got to watch this elegant bird for almost 30 minutes. What a show.

Love,
