Slowly Back to Normal

Hi All,

Thank you all for your prayers and condolences. We knew we were surrounded by people who loved and cared about us even though many were thousands of miles away.

A week after the funeral we went into Boston with Roberta & Elliot.
From the JFK Library we had this spectacular sunset view of the skyline.

The waterfront has come a long way from the rotting piers when we were kids.

Here the waterfront rose garden serves as a foreground for the 1842 Custom House Tower (now a Marriott).

Back in Grand Teton the Aspens and cottonwoods are golden

and the Bears are out looking for berries. This young male grizzly bear is on the hiking trail at the Rockefeller Preserve.
Not surprisingly, the trails and adjacent road have been closed!

We are celebrating the Jewish High Holidays in the NH community where we lived for almost 30 years. We will be in this area until November when we drive south to Jacksonville for the winter.

Love,

Good-Bye Pearl

Hi All,

Hi everyone. Sandy's Mom passed away this evening about 5:30. Both of us and her sister were by her side. So glad we were able to get here in time.

Thanks to all of you again for your thoughts and prayers. We were lucky to have Mom for 94 years.

This picture of Pearl was taken at her "surprise" 90th birthday party.

Funeral details will be determined tomorrow. We'll keep you posted.

Love,

Sandy & Carl

Carl & Ginger have arrived

Hi All,

Mom is about the same.

Carl & Ginger made it safely to Massachusetts today. It's good to be back together again. It was a long week.

We would have sent this email sooner but Ginger was on the computer ;-).

Update

Hi All,

Sandy got to her Mom while she still has short awake, aware moments. She spends most of the time sleeping. We have started hospice care so she will be as comfortable as possible. Thanks again for all your kind thoughts and prayers.

Carl and Ginger are more than half way home and doing fine.

Love,

Last Grand Teton Email for 2014

Hi All,

As many of you have already heard, Sandy's Mom's 94 year old heart is giving out. Sandy will fly to Boston tomorrow and Carl and Ginger will drive east in the motorhome. Sooo, this is our last email from Grand Teton this year.

Earlier today, before we got the news about Mom, we went to inspect the latest "Wildlife Closure" in the park. Lakeview Picnic area is closed due to Toads!

Hundreds, perhaps thousands of these one inch long Boreal Toads have hatched out from the lake and are moving through the picnic area looking for a place to hibernate for the winter. If they are successful, they will grow into four inch long adults like this.

This is the view from the picnic area. They did pick a beautiful place to hatch out.
We'll keep you all posted about Mom.

Love,

Sandy & Carl
