Hi All,

Much like Barberville Pioneer Settlement, the Sanibel Historical Village is a collection of historic structures moved to one place and restored/preserved as a museum.

This is the Morning Glory House. It was ordered from the 1924 Sears catalogue for $2,029. It arrived on a barge in 30,000 pieces!

The original Post Office was built in 1896. It was destroyed in a hurricane and rebuilt with debris from three different structures destroyed in that storm.

The Bailey General Store includes canned goods

toasters

and gasoline. It was 19 cents a gallon plus 3 cents tax.

The one room school House was built in 1895.

This elegant collection of sea shells won first prize in the 1965 Sanibel Sea Shell Fair.

Ding Darling Birds

Hi All,

In the past few days we have been hiking around the refuge to reacquaint ourselves with the trails and big colorful birds.

The roseate spoonbills are still stunning.

The white pelicans are less colorful but huge with wingspans.

Reddish egret watching for a fish.

Great egret reflection.

Many of these great egrets are pretty tame. This one was walking along the roadside.
Saturday we noticed a few cars stopped on the entrance road. Then we spotted five white ibis slowly crossing the road. We have gone from bear jams in Grand Teton to ibis jams in Ding Darling.

Love,

Sandy & Carl
