Hi All,
Much like Barberville Pioneer Settlement, the Sanibel Historical Village is a collection of historic structures moved to one place and restored/preserved as a museum.
This is the Morning Glory House. It was ordered from the 1924 Sears catalogue for $2,029. It arrived on a barge in 30,000 pieces!
The original Post Office was built in 1896. It was destroyed in a hurricane and rebuilt with debris from three different structures destroyed in that storm.
The Bailey General Store includes canned goods
toasters
and gasoline. It was 19 cents a gallon plus 3 cents tax.The one room school House was built in 1895.This elegant collection of sea shells won first prize in the 1965 Sanibel Sea Shell Fair.Love,Sandy & CarlLiving & Traveling in our MotorhomeVolunteering across America617-435-8502
