Fire from the Sky

Hi All,

As we started driving home from Friday night services we noted the pink glow of the setting sun on the peaks east of Jackson. Carl heard a faint voice in his head whispering, "Stop for a picture " but we were eager to get home so he ignored it. As we turned north on Spring  Gulch Road the western sky above the Tetons began to glow and the voice became more insistent, "Stop NOW".
Finding a safe spot on the narrow winding road, he finally pulled over.

Exiting the car, free from the shade of the window tint, the sky was unimaginably vibrant. I quickly found a foreground object to add some depth to the composition and took a few pictures.

Back in the car, the Google Maps display switched to dark mode-legal sunset. Almost immediately the color began to drain from the sky. By the time we got to the next safe place to pull over, the glow had faded to a dull yellow. The voice in my head assumed a superior tone, "I knew you needed to stop back there!"

Love,

Sandy & Carl
