Tombstone Arizona

Hi All,

We met Roberta & Elliot in Tombstone to tour this Wild West town made famous by the gunfight at the OK Corral.

First stop was the courthouse, built in 1882, now a State Park.

Here's the courtroom as seen from the jury box. One exhibit about a local lawman declared, "I never killed a man that didn't need killing".

Stage coach tours are available

And the blacksmith makes horseshoes and other iron trinkets.

We attended a re-enactment of the October 26, 1881 gunfight. The "actors" spent nearly a half hour trying unsuccessfully to convey the history and bad blood behind the gunfight.

Here, Wyatt Earp, his brothers Virgil and Morgan, along with Doc Holiday, confront the Clantons and McLaury brothers. Thirty seconds later nearly 30 shots had been fired.

Billy Clanton and both Frank and Tom McLaury were killed and Virgil And Morgan Earp were wounded.

It interesting to watch but the lengthy , slow paced buildup prompted Elliot to declare the re-enactment, "the longest 30 seconds of his life".

Doc Holliday's girlfriend was known as "Big Nose Kate". Since we worked up an appetite watching all that shooting, we went to Kate's saloon for lunch.

It was said that Kate loved Doc Holliday and everyone else!

Kate's well stocked bar offered specials including "Sex in the Desert" and "Screaming Orgasm". Us old folks just had beer and margaritas.

Love,
