Hi All,
Wednesday and Thursday were a blur as we flew to New York then London then drove 425 miles to Edinburgh where the sightseeing began in earnest.
First stop was Visitor Info and the Scot Monument nearby.
The Royal Mile ( actually 1.2 miles) connects the Edinburgh Castle on the hilltop to Holyrood Palace below.
Here's the south face of the castle on the cliff.
This canon protects the castle from invading ships in the distant Firth of Forth.
Part of the castle barracks complex
and a view of the city below from the regimental headquarters.
The remaining tower atop the castle
and the Scottish Memorial dedicated to all Scottish soldiers killed in the Great War and since.
The Great Hall houses a large collection of armor and weapons.
This is one of the oldest sections of the castle.
St Giles Church along the Royal Mile.
It was a full day and a pleasant short walk back to our rented apartment only 200 yards off the Royal Mile.
Love,
