Slow Way Home

Hi All,

We took highway A1A north this morning. First stop was Ormond Beach. We hiked along the beach lined with a wide array of structures from ugly hi-rise condos to Spanish villas like this.

Lots of birds on this sparsely populated stretch of beach. We counted 12 different species of gulls, terns, shorebirds etc. Twelve birds was pretty good for a mile of beach.

We thought we were done counting until we found this parrot on his own perch. His owners were nearby!

Next stop was Tomoko State Park. It has a beautiful campground and this surprise statue. It is supposed to be Timucuan Chief Tomokie but there was no such chief; it is all artistic fantasy.

At least the sculptor got the Timucuan hairdos right.

As we walked along we saw lots of kayakers on the lagoon.
We continued up A1A but it rained hard so no more beach hiking. Still a great couple of days.

Love,
