Season Winding Down

Hi All,

Hard to believe we are well into September. Several volunteers have already departed.

Last Saturday we hiked trails in the Colter Bay Area. There was a lot of smoke ( it's a lot worse now) but the vistas were still stunning.

As we patrolled a trail we were horrified to see what appeared to be a campfire right in the trail. It turned out to be a big pile of bear scat🙀

Today was our back country day so we hiked to Phelps Lake. Such a beautiful and peaceful spot. We can never visit Phelps without remembering Jim Campbell who first brought us here.
Several visitors reported bears but we did not spot them.

Back at Gros Ventre Campground we found some new residents.

Many photographers carefully selected locations from which to photograph the eclipse but this is extraordinary. They climbed to a ridge line in Oregon to shoot the "diamond ring" phenomenon on the ridge. This was NASA's Astro photo of the day recently.

Love,
