Mid-Coast Maine

Hi All,

Monday we drove up the coast of Maine with a shopping stop in Freeport, home of LL Bean.

Our campsite on Georgetown Island was right on the water!

Tuesday we visited cousins Ed & Barb. They gave us a tour of their almost completed new home on Orr's Island. It is magnificent. Here's the view from the back deck.

Carl admits this is very geeky but their electrician is an artist. Carl has never seen such neat and orderly wire runs.

Wednesday we visited the Arctic Museum at Bowdoin College in Brunswick. It's a modest but fascinating museum with displays and artifacts from Robert Peary's Arctic expeditions( Peary was a Bowdoin alum).

We started today with a hike and beach walk at Reid State Park.

After some shopping in Boothbay Harbor we visited Pemequid Lighthouse.

then it was on to New Harbor, home of the world's freshest and best lobsters at Shaw's.

Here we have 2.6 pounds of scrumptious crustacean.

When we left Shaw's after dark, lobster men were still unloading.
Tomorrow we head further up the coast to Acadia National Park.

Love,

Sandy & Carl
