On the Road Again

Hi All,

First stop is Brigham City UT where we have always enjoyed the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. No so much today.

We saw the smoke from the distance but since the roads winds north and south, it was not until we got to about here that we realized we were watching a prescribed burn on the Refuge and there would be no birding today.

Plan B was the Ogden Nature Center. It was a pleasant hike through woodlands and meadows.
Unfortunately for us, the seasonal ponds are all dry in October and birds were scarce though we did see some California Quail running along the trail ahead of us.
The center also houses several injured raptors that cannot survive in the wild. These birds include a red tailed hawk

and a Golden Eagle.

The center has an annual bird house contest. Our favorites included "Hats off to Birds"

and an RV for birds.

Meanwhile back on Moose Wilson Road the black bears are climbing trees to get to the tops of the berry bushes.
Stay tuned for more on the road fun.

Love,

Sandy & Carl
