Lunch in the Village

Hi All,

Remember that food we bought at the market this morning? Our hosts, along with some of our tour members cooked it up for lunch.

While the food was being prepared our host came around with an unmarked bottle of medium brown fluid. He called it Laotian tea but later said the roots in the bottle were from the opium plant! Got everyone in an even better mood.

They also served appetizers while the main meal was being prepared. Those of you who have traveled in this region before may recognize fried cicada, crickets and silk worms. No we didn't.

It was a festive meal

and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We wished our host family "Khop Chai Lai Lai " which means "Thank you very, very much". We were cautioned that inflections are important since "Khop Chai La La" means "Thanks for nothing🙀.
The whole day was a series of unforgettable experiences.

Love,
